These three truffles are the most meaningful birthday gift I've received, because they were given to me by my homeless friend, Kelly. He gave me everything he had. I cried. How can someone love me so much that they give me everything they have? How can I accept such a gift? Why do people look down on my homeless friend in disgust, who's shown me such love, a love I struggle to understand? The gift reminds me of God's grace and forgiveness. Even though I do not deserve it, He gives it to me because he loves unconditionally. Getting to know Kelly, I've been getting to know Jesus.
Kelly reminds me of the Widow in Mark 12:41-44:
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
I strive to love how Kelly does💙
